Biography

Bob and Amanda Meath formed Theam Security in January 1992 and after 23 years, it still remains a family business.

Amanda had a career in Banking until children came along and following a break of 12 years she became the financial half of the business, controlling the administration, sales and purchase ledgers.

Bob started work as a carpenter and progressed onto the installation of high security windows and doors, moving into the security sector in 1984 with a major lock company where he was appointed to Sales Director within 5 years.

Recognising a niche in the market place for a high quality security installation company rather than a locksmithing service he decided to seize the opportunity and establish Theam Security.

Through Theam Security many close relationships have been formed with Police, Secured by Design, Local Authorities etc and Theam were proud to become the first recipient of the Secured by Design accreditation for installation of approved products. Due to Theam’s extensive involvement with many midland domestic violence schemes, Bob initiated the West Midlands Domestic Violence Forum where councils, police and organisations meet to discuss best practice.

In 2011, due to his vast knowledge and reputation Bob was invited to lecture on Security Installation and Surveying on the Police and Military Crime Reduction Officer Training Courses, at the National Police Training College, which he still continues to do.

He is also a security adviser on a document providing minimum guidelines for Domestic Violence protection in the UK.  This document has been commissioned by the Metropolitan Police and Secured By Design for use by CPDO’s (Crime Prevention Design Officers) and Local Authorities.

Bob’s ethos of quality products, professional installation and first class customer service is engrained into a dedicated, fully trained staff. This he believes is the only way forward!
